2025 Toyota RAV4

Performance 

The RAV4 is available with conventional gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid drivetrains.   

The RAV4 gas model drivetrain starts with a 2.5-liter inline-4, producing 203 hp @ 6,600 rpm and 184 lb.-ft. @ 5,000 rpm.  It is paired with an 8-speed Electronically Controlled automatic transmission with sequential shift mode.  All non-electrified grades have standard front-wheel drive (FWD) and available all-wheel drive.  

The suspension features MacPherson struts up front and a multilink arrangement in the rear, each with stabilizer bars. Standard ground clearance is 8.4 inches with a 19-degree approach angle and 21-degree departure angle.  

Exterior 

The RAV exterior combines a straight-edged profile with rugged front-end styling from Toyota’s truck lines that looks aggressive on the street and trail. The most basic RAV4 rides on 17-inch steel wheels with 17, 18, and 19-inch wheel designs available depending on the grade.  Exterior colors also vary by grade, but across the model line, the standard colors include:

Interior 

The RAV4 dashboard is purposely uncluttered, with key areas defined by a bright pewter-finish trim. Physical controls all operate with the smooth movement and subtle clicks Toyota is known for. Seating starts with cloth surfaces, quickly upgrading to premium fabric and then SofTex® leather-like surfaces. An 8-way power adjustable driver seat, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, heated front seats, heated rear seats, and a panoramic sunroof, among other refinements, are available as you climb the grade hierarchy.  

Overall, there are 98.9 cubic feet of passenger space, including 37.8 inches of legroom for rear passengers.  Behind the rear passengers lies 37.5 cubic feet of cargo space with 40 inches depth of floor space. If there are no rear passengers, lowering both sides of the 60/40 rear seats will expand to 69.8 cubic feet.  

Technology 

High and center on the dashboard is the standard 8-inch touchscreen of the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, which grows to 10.5 inches on the Limited grade and is accompanied by an 11-speaker JBL® Premium Audio system, including a subwoofer and amplifier. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is standard across the model line, as are convenience features like a digital speedometer, a 7-inch digital Multi-Information Display, and a Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) with individual tire readout. 

Safety and Driver Assistance

Though the 2025 RAV4 has not yet been rated, the identical 2024 model received a 5-star Overall Rating from the NHTSA. Also, the 2024 RAV4 was designated a TOP SAFETY PICK by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). All RAV4 models come standard with the Star Safety System™, which includes:

Also standard on every RAV4 is the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of safety and driver assistance technologies, which includes: 

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection  

PCS w/PD will help detect a vehicle, pedestrian, or bicyclist and give drivers an audio/visual forward-collision warning in certain circumstances. If the driver doesn’t react promptly, the system will provide automatic emergency braking.   

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control  

DRCC and the available Full-Speed Range DRCC are adaptive cruise control systems designed for speeds above 20 mph. They use vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you.   

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist  

When white/yellow lane markings or certain road-edge boundary lines are detected at speeds above 32 mph, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) is designed to issue an audio/visual lane departure warning if your vehicle moves outside of your lane without activating the turn signal. If the driver does not attempt to return to their lane, the system will provide gentle corrective steering for lane-keeping assistance.   

Lane Tracing Assist  

When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) or available Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar DRCC is enabled, and lane markers are detected, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) uses the lines on the road and/or preceding vehicles to provide active driving assistance and help keep the vehicle centered in its lane.   

Road Sign Assist  

Using a built-in camera, your Highlander can read road signs and display them on the Multi-Information Display (MID). It can detect speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, and yield signs and then display them in the gauge cluster display.  

Automatic High Beams  

Above 21 mph, the vehicle recognizes when it is too dark outside and automatically turns on the high beams to assist drivers in seeing better. The system will deactivate the high beams once it notices headlights from oncoming traffic, taillights of vehicles in front of you, or overhead road lights.   

Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert  

When driving, cars can commonly ride in your blind spots. Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) displays an orange icon in the side mirrors when a vehicle drives into the blind spot. When reversing, the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) helps detect vehicles approaching from either side, warning you with side mirror indicators and a warning tone.
