Performance
The new 2026 bZ has two different lithium-ion battery packs. A 57.7 kWh pack is standard on the XLE with front-wheel drive, while XLE FWD Plus, XLE AWD, and Limited FWD and AWD get a larger 74.7 kWh pack. Both batteries can charge up to 150 kW and utilize a NACS charging port. This means owners will have access to more charging stations around the country.
Standard power on the base XLE FWD is 168 horsepower, while XLE and Limited FWD trims will have 221 horsepower, and the XLE and Limited with AWD produce 338 horsepower. Toyota says all-wheel drive models will be able to hit 60 mph in only 4.9 seconds, while FWD models will do the same task in 8 seconds.
Driving range varies depending on trim level and drivetrain, as seen below:
- XLE FWD – 235 miles
- XLE FWD Plus – 314 miles
- XLE AWD – 288 miles
- Limited FWD – 299 miles
- Limited AWD – 278 miles
For 2026, the bZ adopts the Plug & Charge standard. This reduces the need for multiple charging apps, as more charging stations will be able to quickly identify your car and information just from being plugged in.
The 3-spoke steering wheel in the bZ also features paddle shifters that can control the amount of regenerative braking the vehicle has on the fly.
The new generation bZ features an 11-kW on-board AC charger for better Level One and Level Two charging. The previous generation bZ had a 7-kW on-board AC charger. Toyota put the charging port on the front right of the vehicle, and the bZ gets a dual-voltage charging cable.
Models with AWD are equipped with X-MODE, which allows drivers to quickly select what type of surface they are driving on so that the bZ can react accordingly. With the low-speed system Grip-Control, the bZ uses its motor to help the SUV maintain better surface contact and limit slipping in off-road situations.
Thanks to the rigid e-TNGA platform, the bZ has its batteries under the flat floor, which gives it a low center of gravity. The dynamic suspension gives the EV SUV a planted feeling that provides drivers with confidence in all driving situations.
Exterior
Toyota gave the new 2026 bZ a special design that stands out no matter where the car is. The distinct style, called Hammerhead, is pronounced on the bZ with slim LED daytime running lights across the front of the nose.
The bZ offers 8.2 inches of ground clearance and is 184.6 inches long, 73.2 inches wide, and 65 inches tall, including the antenna. The 112.2-inch wheelbase promises stable cornering performance and a more comfortable ride on various road surfaces. A panoramic moonroof with a power sunshade is optional on the XLE and standard on the Limited trim.
All models come standard with all-season tires wrapped around either 18-inch wheels in XLE guise or the Limited’s 20-inch multi-spoke, machine-finished wheels.
Toyota is making the bZ customizable by buyers with the option to have a black roof and either color-matched or black overfenders. Buyers can choose from five different colors, including Wind Chill Pearl, Supersonic Red, Blueprint, Black, and Heavy Metal.
LED daytime running lights, bi-LED projector low and high beam headlights, accent lights, taillights, and stop lights are all standard with Limited grades adding multi-LED headlights.
Interior
For the latest bZ, Toyota completely redesigned the dashboard with a new instrument panel design that features the standard 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen and customizable ambient lighting. Drivers will appreciate the standard Multi-Information Display (MID) with a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster display that shows your current speed, charging information, warning indicators, and more.
While the standard bZ features fabric seats for a comfortable feeling, black SofTex® can be optioned on XLE models. SofTex® is standard on Limited trims in either light gray or black.
With the battery thermal management system (more on that in Technology), the bZ offers a heat pump system for the heating and air conditioning, heated front seats and steering wheel as standard, with an optional front seat radiant foot and leg heater, and available heated and ventilated rear seats. Limited models have heated and ventilated front seats.
XLE models have an 8-way power-adjustable front seat and a 6-way adjustable front passenger seat, while Limited trims add lumbar support for both driver and front passenger, with the front passenger also getting an 8-way power seat.
The bZ is a full SUV that has excellent interior space. Front passengers will get 42.1 inches of legroom, while rear passengers get a healthy 35.3 inches. Behind the second row, you will find 27.7 cubic feet of cargo space.
Technology
Keeping everyone very happy in the car means giving them easy ways to charge their devices, which is why Toyota added no fewer than 4 USB-C ports to conveniently charge everything from phones to tablets and even laptops.
Along with the 14-inch infotainment system, drivers will love the inclusion of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as dual Bluetooth phone connectivity. The available WiFi Connect (a 30-day or 3GB free trial) offers an AT&T Hotspot with 4G and the ability to connect up to 5 devices. HD Radio and a free 3-month SiriusXM subscription are also included.
Buyers looking for an in-car assistant need to look no further than Drive Connect in the bZ, which offers a 3-year trial that includes Intelligent Assistant. Simply say “Hey, Toyota,” and your assistant comes to life to answer commands for directions, Points of Interest (POI), changing the radio settings, cabin temperature, and more. In-car Cloud Navigation ensures the latest maps and traffic information are in your bZ. The POI search utilizes Google Points of Interest data. Destination Assist is also offered, giving you a 24/7 live agent to help you locate and get you to your destination.
Rain-sensing with variable intermittent windshield wipers and de-icing abilities means that those wet and/or cold morning commutes will be a little easier and faster to get moving.
All models come standard with dual Qi-compatible (pronounced as “chee”) wireless phone chargers. The 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system features six speakers; however, an optional 9-speaker, 8-channel JBL Premium Audio system with a 9-inch subwoofer and 800-watt amplifier is optional on Limited grades.
With Toyota Remote Connect service, owners get a 3-year trial that enables them to turn on the headlights, activate the horn, buzzer, and unlock the rear hatch remotely. Using the remote climate features allows you to change the cabin temperature along with seat heaters and ventilators, heated steering wheel, and the defroster. You can even set any of these on a schedule to activate at certain times of the day.
You can also utilize Remote Charging with Remote Connect, where you can check your vehicle’s charging status, start or stop charging, edit charging schedules, and find charging stations nearby with the Toyota app.
The available Toyota Digital Key uses your smartphone in conjunction with the Remote Connect service to act as your key if you misplace, forget, or can’t carry your physical key. The Digital Key allows you to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle with the Toyota app.
To maintain better DC charging speeds in colder temperatures, the bZ features a battery thermal management system that adds a water-to-water heat exchanger and heating adjustment valve that will increase battery temperature.
Safety
Like other new Toyota models, the bZ features some of the industry’s best safety features with the standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. TSS 3.0 includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Road Sign Assist (RSA), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/ SA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Proactive Driving Assist (PDA), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Safe Exit Alert, as well as Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Smart Stop Technology (SST).
Limited trim levels add Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, Panoramic View Monitor with Perimeter Scan and 360-degree Overhead View, and Curb View.
The bZ also comes standard with a 5-year minimum trial subscription to Safety Connect and Service Connect. With Safety Connect, you will have the Emergency Assistance Button (SOS) with 24/7 Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and Stolen Vehicle Locator. Service Connect allows owners to get Vehicle Health Reports, Maintenance Alerts, and reminders.
